Why insurers and their supply chains must work together to successfully protect homes from the devastating impacts of flooding

The reality is that the whole world is facing an ever-increasing risk from flood – be that from overflowing rivers and seas, flash floods or surface ground water. And the UK is no different. According to the Committee on Climate Change’s independent report on the UK’s climate risk, not only is the climate getting warmer and wetter, but a very scary four-degree temperature rise is within plausible scenarios.

This will mean that the UK will face increasing rainfall intensity and continued sea level rise, while at the same time, more homes will inevitably, based on present activity, continue to be built on flood plains. To successfully protect homes from the devastating impacts of flooding and help mitigate its financial consequences, insurers and their supply chains must work together.

This content highlights why the Build Back Better agenda demands improved supply chain co-ordination and cost control.
