Based on independent research, The Whiplash Report 2012 scotches many myths about whiplash injury and compensation: many people, for example, will be surprised to learn that whiplash claims have fallen in the past year; that only one in a hundred people suffered a whiplash injury in the last year; that one in five people have symptoms lasting over a year; and that 30 per cent of people have been encouraged to claim compensation by insurers.

There cannot be proper discussion without the facts and, now that those facts are available for everyone, we hope reason and calm will return to this debate. The report also looks at the separate issue of fraudulent claims and suggests practical ways to stamp out fraud, which we hope will lead to a universal commitment to deal with the problem, without damaging the right of the majority of genuine people to claim compensation for their injuries.
