Water scarcity

How to mitigate the risks

The World Bank predicts a 40% gap between water supplies and forecast demand by 2030. The World Economic Forum ranks water crises as a bigger global risk than infectious diseases and interstate conflict.

But how seriously do firms take the threat? And what can they do to mitigate it? The environmental risk reporting agency (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) has surveyed Global 500 companies to examine their attitudes and look at key risks.

This Analysis summarises their findings. It also gives examples of companies that are using water resource management to gain new growth opportunities.
