Careful hazard monitoring is critical for the chemicals industry
The chemicals sector faces challenges that few others do: corrosive and toxic products, ignitable liquids, high temperatures and pressures and critical, state-of-the-art equipment.
If a loss does occur, it can take up to a year to replace the equipment. So prevention and protection are critical. This article looks at risk within the industry and how to ensure resilience.
As Sébastien Klein, chemical hazard coordinator for FM Global in Southern Europe says “If a valve or pipe is changed, or a sensor added, this change must be carefully analysed”.
