Whiplash: Choosing the right path

Insurers can ill afford a protracted debate over how best to manage whiplash claims, but despite the meter ticking to the tune of £2bn a year, there is little sign of a solution on the horizon.

So what are the main bones of contention when it comes to whiplash claims? Are there any areas likely to yield significant improvements in a status quo that insurers feel is simply unsustainable? Solutions such as raising the threshold of the small claims track, cutting claimant lawyers out of the process and, drastically, putting an end to paying compensation for whip lash once and for all, have been put forward-but so far nothing has changed.
