Cyber crime & corporate security
Last month, the FBI warned of a "Business Email Compromise" (BEC) attack which has cost companies over £140 million.
This particular attack targets firms with foreign suppliers and involves fraudulent bank transfers in the name of the financial director or employee responsible for wire transfers.
It's just one of the sophisticated techniques that organised gangs are now using to target firms, their suppliers and customers. A similar strategy in Asia, called "DarkHotel", targets executives staying in luxury hotels.
All members of executive teams should be alert to this rising threat.
